Decalogue
We kept scuffing out
those ten words with
our shifty lives:
crossing the boundary
of a vowed relationship;
taking the breath away
from one of your
children;
leaning over the backyard
fence
to sow weeds
in a friend’s
heart ...
So we would not
keep thinking we
were so wise,
you took
a piece of wood
and
drew a line
in our souls
which death,
disappointment,
chaos
can never erase.
