Advent Day 18 - Gingerbread People

Gingerbread peopleGill’s favourite recipe for
150g (12ozs) plain flour
1  tsp. bicarb. of soda
2  tsp ground ginger
100g (4ozs) stork margarine
175g (6ozs) soft light brown sugar
60ml (4 tblsp) golden syrup
1 egg, beaten

Sift flour, bicarb. and ginger. Rub in marg.,then stir in sugar.
Beat the syrup into the egg, then stir into flour mix.
Mix together to make a smooth dough, adding more flour if too soft.
Roll out (half at a time) until ¼ inch thick. Cut out men, rolling and re-rolling until all mixture is used. (I use small cutters)
Cook on lined or greased flat baking sheets on Gas mark 5,  190C or 
 375F for 12-15 mins.
Cool slightly then transfer to wire racks.
When cool, “faces” can be added!
